A male Joltik, huh? Wracking his brain for a nickname, a flash of insight crossed George's mind and his slipped the now filled Pokeball into his waist pack. "I think I'll name you Dirk. Small, effective, and fast, much like the weapon. Welcome to the team." Grunting as he turned back to the other trainer.

"I suppose a slight apology is in order, so do forgive me for my outburst. Name's George. Now..if you'll excuse me, I have some more exploration to do here. It's been a while."

Right... Lambda nodded and started to gingerly step away herself. She needed to get a move on as well. "I'm gonna see about training you two. It might be a bit harsh, but I'll do my best to keep up." She gave Noel that very late nuzzle before adding on. "I don't like the look of all those Rockets around Rustboro. I need to be strong enough to take care of myself away from home, because I don't think I'll be home a whole lot." 'Away from home' was probably safer than 'home' at this point. Her father sure was confident in himself. At least, he was on the Rockets' good side to some small degree.

"Let's start hunting around, eh? Maybe you guys can teach me stuff. I'd like to know how to climb like a Treecko." She approached the grass, gingerly and quietly.

A Wild Shinx has appeared!

A Shinx - likely the same one from earlier, having detached the Joltik and run away after George jostled the tree - has curiously prodded Lambda's leg in confusion and intrigue, crackling with static electricity. Noticing the Fletchling and Treeko, however, it quickly prepares to defend itself.

Lambda had barely taken a step when she felt something by her shin. Dawww, a little bitty Shinx! It was so cute. A little lion kitten. But then it jumped back– and Shanz realized that oh, right, a battle had to happen. "Okay, you two. Do your best."

She racked her brains to recall Shinx's abilities. One of the rare electric-types that didn't seem to have Static, so it was safe to touch. Somewhat.

"All right, I need you two to get in close. Treecko, use Absorb; Fletchling, use Tackle. Go!"

Treecko's Turn

Treecko is closing to range and using Absorb, an attack with Accuracy 2 and dealing 1d6+3 damage before stat adjustments (1d6+15 afterwards). 
To hit, it will need a 3 or greater on a D20 (a point of Special Evasion).

The Absorb has hit, and has dealt a total of 13 damage. The Shinx is now in a RED health zone (scan with Pokedex for exact numbers).

It is now Fletchling's turn. It can attack, or hold its turn.

Lambda briefly gave it some thought– that one hit seemed to have done a lot. Did she want to capture, or KO?

...

She'd meet a whole lot more, with how long she'd be training. "Attack, Robin!"

Fletchling has used Tackle, a physical attack with Accuracy 3. It would normally deal a total of 2d8+13 damage, but Shinx's Intimidate is lowering that to 2d8+12.

Shinx has fainted.
Treecko got 70xp
Fletchling got 110xp


With a high-pitched squeal, the Shinx pitched over sideways and thudded to the ground, unconscious. It should be fine given some rest, but for now it is unable to be caught.

Lambda smiled. A good start. They had to do that a whole lot more... With the way she felt, there would be a lot of yawning involved. "Well done, you two." She would have welcomed them back onto her shoulders, but it was time to work. "Let's see what else we can find. C'mon." She'd probably eat up the better part of a day training. As long as she had company, though...

As George nurses his bruised ego and finishes healing his new Joltik, he finds one of his spare gloves stolen by a diving Pidove, who swoops up and begins to build a nest with it.

How convenient that her second battle would be something so stressful for her– her ears were so sensitive to sound. Whismur was not a pokemon for her in the slightest. "Treecko, Fletchling. Start at the right end and knock then out one-by-one. Use Pound and Tackle." And, she had a feeling she would put Quick Attack to some use. "Go! I'll try to preserve my sanity." And she clamped her hands to her ears and moved with her Pokemon to stay behind them. Good legendary beasts, she hoped this would be over quickly.

Why could nothing go right today? First the checkpoint, then being horrifically embarrassed by what was now Dirk the Joltik, and now his glove was being used to make a nest! This meant war! Reaching for Jackson's Pokeball, he grunted. "Alright Jackson, war has been declared. Let's get this over with!" Calling forth the penguin in a flash of light, the penguin did a fake trip as if to mock his trainer for the debacle earlier. "Oh quiet you!"

Staring up at the offending bird, George glared. "You brought this upon yourself!"

The pidove - not the brightest of pokemon - tilted its head in confusion as George went for his pokeball, the glove still in its beak. "Dooove?"
Then the Piplup manifested, and he got a determined look on his face, especially when the penguin pokemon seemed to trip in fear at the sight of him. He took off into the air and flapped his wings - once, twice, thrice, each flap getting the wind around him increasingly agitated, until he let rip with a Gust attack at the water-type.
(D20 to hit, needs a 3+ to hit. On hit, dealing 1d12+12 Special Flying-type damage)

The attack has hit, slamming into Jackson and dealing a total of 17 damage, dropping him to 14 health, staggering him badly and inflicting an Injury (an Injury occurs when one attack does damage equal to half the target's total or more), temporarily reducing his Attack from 6 to 5.

Treecko's Turn

Treecko shot forward, trying to land a Pound on one of the Whismur before it could finish charging up its Echoed Voice. (Needing a 2+ to hit, dealing 1d12+13 physical damage). 

Fletchling's Turn

Fletchling aimed for a grouping of three closer together, hoping to hit another with a Quick Attack and another with a Peck before they could do anything. (3+ to hit, dealing 2d8+15 physical damage)

Treecko's attack has Hit, dealing 13 points of Physical Damage in total and bringing one of the Whismur down into RED health range. 

Fletchling's attack has also hit, dealing nineteen points of physical damage and KOing one of the Whismur, sending it flying into a nearby tree with a dull thud. 

Whismur Turns (Interrupts)

The two Whismur adjacent to the Fletchling turn to try and hit it with Echoed Voice, but Quick Attack and a Gale Wing procc'd Peck both trigger, causing Fletchling to resolve his attacks first. Quick Attack needs a 2+ to hit and deals 1d12+15 damage, while Peck needs the same but is doing Flying type damage.

Both of Fletchling's Interrupts hit, with the Quick Attack KOing another Whismur before it could even do anything, while the Peck brings the other Whismur down into the YELLOW health range. 
The current state of the horde is:
1 Whismur intact
1 Whismur in Red health
1 Whismur in Yellow health
2 Whismur KO'd

Whismur Turns
The intact and Yellow health Whismur both turn to fire their Echoed Voices at the Fletchling, while the Red health Whismur is forced to resort to a Pound attack against Treecko. 
The first Echoed Voice needs a 2+ to hit and will deal 1d12+11 Special Normal damage, while the second will deal 1d20+11 Special Normal damage. The Pound needs a 2+ to hit, and will be dealing 1d12+12 damage.
