George Polar - Solo Thread #1
Rocket Disgraced
Rustboro City. Formerly a respectable city, now slowly becoming a hive of scum and villainy rivaled only by a few, the influence of Roxanne and her students being the only thing holding back Rocket's gradual takeover of the city. We join George Polar, a former Rocket agent himself, as he finally comes over the top of Meteor Falls - having foolishly elected not to go through it - into Route 115, pausing to take a break outside the entrance, breathing heavily. The city was another hour or so away on foot, with some rough terrain and ledges in his path, but not many wild Pokemon around. While before Route 115 would be full of trainers enjoying some time with their Pokemon, or fishers looking for new Water-types in the ocean, now there was just a patch of charred grass that no doubt marked the location of a recent skirmish with Team Whiplash - and a solitary Rocket Grunt on patrol, whistling and overall not paying much attention, glad to have gotten the easy job.
Sneak Past - Easy Dexterity skill check (D20+Trainer's Dex Modifier, beat a 10)
Bluff - Moderate Charisma skill check (D20+Trainer's Cha Modifier, beat a 14)
Ambush! - You gain initiative (order would be you-your pokemon-rocket grunt-his pokemon), send out 1 pokemon of your choice as a free action.
Other - Discuss with GM
Re: George Polar - Solo Thread #1
The trek was a long one, but George had dealt with rough terrain often enough in his time as a criminal, and scaling Meteor Falls was annoying and most likely not his best decision, but it got the job done and ensured little hassle. And yet here he was, seething in annoyance as a Team Rocket grunt stood in his way from entering Rustboro. Deciding confrontation was a poor choice given his slight exhaustion, George attempted to sneak past the grunt to minimize the risk of disaster.

Sneak Succesful!
The Rocket grunt, absorbed in his daydreams, completely failed to notice as George sneaked past him with little trouble. After clambering down a ledge, he set off for a fairly straightforward walk down to Rustboro, where after around half an hour he came up to a newly-added Devon Corp. entry checkpoint. Without the proper documents to prove himself as a Hoenn resident, George would have to find some other way of entering the city.
Sneak Past - Hard Stealth Check (Target number 15)- Dexterity
Bluff Past - Moderate Persuade (Target number 12)- Charisma+Circumstance Bonuses from dialogue chosen (Roll later)
Move around and climb wall - Easy Athletics (Target number 8 )- Strength
Re: George Polar - Solo Thread #1
A checkpoint. Fantastic, he thought. No ID meant no entry, and given that sneaking past a heavily guarded gate would be an unlikely success at best, George figured that it was time to bust out the oldest trick in the book: lying to their face. Striding up to the checkpoint with a panicked and horrified expression on his face, he greeted the guard in a shaky voice.
"Excuse me sir! I was just informed that my brother-in-law has recently contracted a terminal illness and won't last the week. I've been living out of region for the past few years and misplaced my identification on my hurried journey here. Is there any way you can please, just let me through. I want to see him one last time. Despite not being related by blood, he was the brother I never truly had. I beg of you, sir, just make an exception just this once."

Re: George Polar - Solo Thread #1
The Rocket grunt looked up from his clipboard, incredulous. "...there's not been any listed illnesses that we know of, and Devon Corp takes very good care of its employees." He said slowly, as if talking to a fool. "And even if we did, we'd need to see your Trainer Card. Or did your Growlithe eat it?"

Re: George Polar - Solo Thread #1
An exhausted sigh escaped his lips as the guard distinctly denied him. This was going to be harder than he thought. Sap stories usually worked, in his experience. Placing his hands on the counter in the least menacingly way he could, he bowed his head. Trying to make his voice even shakier, George looked the guard directly in the eye.
"Please sir..He's not an employee any longer. He had decided to retire after his Herdier passed away. The stress weakened him and now," he scrounged for a name from his former days as a Rocket, "Adrien lays on his deathbed. And.." reaching into his pack, he pulled out an ID card from his time in the organization. "Please man, help a guy out. I know it may say I...went AWOL, but that's just a misunderstanding and I'll be in and out within the day. If your boss asks any questions, you can tell him a dangerous traitor went in and leaked info to the school. Tell them I held you at knife point or something. Just give me one day, that's all I ask."

Zubat (12)
Rocket Grunt (9)

Re: George Polar - Solo Thread #1
The Grunt has failed to tackle George, landing heavily to the side instead.
It is now George's turn. If he brings out a pokemon with his action, that pokemon will immediately take a turn before settling into its normal place in the initiative order (Speed score decides)

Re: George Polar - Solo Thread #1
Revealing his identity went about as well as he could've expected. And by that it meant it went horribly, horribly wrong. Snickering to himself as the guard went sailing past him, he almost panicked when the Zubat began it's high pitched cry. George was racing against time now, and he needed to move fast. Backpedaling away from the guard, he reached into his pack for a Pokeball. Grabbing his Piplup Jackson's, he roared, "Alright Jackson, it's showtime!" before calling forth the little penguin. "Let's get to work, shall we?"

Re: George Polar - Solo Thread #1
Quickly assessing the situation, George nodded to Jackson. "Alright, let's go. Get under it and shoot it out of the sky with Bubble!"
Crying out, the little penguin obediently followed orders and leaped into action, quite literally in this regard. Jumping to a spot below the Zubat, he opened his mouth to fire a stream of watery projectiles at the Zubat.
Bubble stats: 1d6+14

The bubble has missed, and the round is over. Since Jackson has joined the fight with his speed of 4, the initiative order now looks like this:Admin wrote:The member 'Ssbmfreak36' has done the following action : Die roll

Zubat
Rocket Grunt
George
Jackson
Zubat's Turn
The Zubat swings around, diving down towards the new threat and attempting to perform a Leech Life, biting into the Piplup's fin.
Leech Life: 1d6+6, heal half the damage dealt. Accuracy 2 (Jackson has Attack Evasion 1, so adjusted to needing a 3 or higher)

The Leech Life has hit, dealing 11-7 (Jackson's Defense) - so 4 - damage to the Piplup. Jackson goes from 31HP to 27, and since the Zubat is already at maximum health it cannot heal. It is also now latched onto Jackson's fin, and if not detached will automatically hit with Leech Life the next time it is used.Admin wrote:The member 'Admin' has done the following action : Die roll

Grunt's Turn
The Rocket Grunt decides to give up on subduing George the hard way, and pulls out a Switchblade. Since he doesn't have training with this weapon, he does not get his Dexterity modifier added onto attacks with it. He lunges for Jackson (D20 vs his Dex score, so 13 again) and if he hits will be doing d6+his STR modifier (1) damage.

Re: George Polar - Solo Thread #1
The Rocket Grunt has hit, scoring a deep gash in George's arm and dropping him to 44 HP out of 50. He is also Bleeding, and will need to bind the wound later -and the injury is very conspicuous.
So far, nobody else has noticed the fight, or if they have decided to give it any consideration.
It is now George's turn, followed by his piplup's.

Re: George Polar - Solo Thread #1
Wincing as the blade gave him a nasty gash, George glared at the Grunt. He knew his kind, probably wanted to make a quick buck and grew satisfied with how the line of work was. It was far easier being with them than against, after all. The situation was getting sticky, and he needed to escape, quickly. The best plan was to most likely knock out the Zubat first to ensure it wouldn't alert any other people by flying around like a maniac. Deciding on that course, George turned towards Jackson and the Zubat that was currently latched to his fin. Nodding to the penguin, he reared back and let loose a punch at the Zubat to hopefully knock it off and stun it for a follow up.
Punch strength: 1d4 -1

George has Critically Failed his attack roll, and missed completely, falling over and becoming Prone. His piplup shakes his head in despair, and even the Grunt seems caught off guard.Admin wrote:The member 'Admin' has done the following action : Die roll

It is now Jackson the Piplup's turn
